Religious Education (First grade through end of High School)
Formation in the Catholic faith of our children and youth is an important and necessary task assigned to parents and the parish community. To this end, The Church of the Annunciation offers Religious Education to children and youth Sunday mornings between early September and May.
Parents preferring to home school their children in the faith at home are encouraged to utilize the same texts used at the parish. Please contact RE.
Elementary and Middle School (1st-8th)
Faith and Life series from Ignatius press.
The New St. Joseph Baltimore Catechism, No.1 and No.2.
High School (9th – 12th)
Didache Series from the Midwest Theological Freedom

COVID-19 accommodations: To be determined. It is likely we will need to ask parents to homeschool their children in the faith during the first several months.
First Penance and Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
Candidates for First Penance and Reconciliation/First Holy Communion preparation must be: baptized, seven years old by September 1st (normally entering 2nd grade), and completed one year for Religious Education.
COVID-19 accommodations – Until we can safely meet on parish grounds, lesson plans to prepare for these sacraments will be circulated to enrolled families. More information will be sent directly to parents.
Candidates for Confirmation must:
- be baptized in the Catholic Church
- have received Holy Communion
- be practicing their Catholic faith and living by God’s commandments and the precepts of the Church
- have reached the minimum age of 15 years by September 1st.
- have completed one full year of Religious Education (minimum) at the parish, home, or Catholic School.
